• Work closely with journal Editors and ACS Editorial Development team to plan, implement commissioning strategies and journal development initiatives

• Responsible for engaging institutions and individuals to build a strong network of leading and emerging researchers

• Responsible for identifying potential submissions and ensuring the quality and value of the commissioned journal contents

• Engage ACS Editors, EABs and communities in China to deliver activities and programs to promote ACS journals effectively

• Collaborate with stakeholders globally - editorial, production, and marketing to contribute to the overall strategy of the ACS journals and division-wide projects

The incumbent must be highly self-motivated and be comfortable working in a complex, matrix international environment with external and internal stakeholders. The incumbent should be a good team player as well as be able to work independently. In addition to these general skills and personality traits, the following skills are required:

• Doctorate degree in a discipline relating to Environmental Sciences or Chemistry

• At least 5 years of experience in STM journals with a track record of content acquisition or journal management is preferred.

• Good understanding of recent trends and developments in Environmental Sciences or Chemistry and related fields, and able to identify high impact emerging areas of research

• An established network with the Environmental Sciences or Chemistry community will be advantageous.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both English and Chinese

• Excellent organizational and leadership skills, adaptivity to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities

• Willingness to travel extensively within China and occasionally overseas

• Proactive approach to problem solving, self-confidence, strong resourcefulness, and independent thinking

• Identify and acquire potential journals to grow the journal portfolio

• Lead the launch/transition process for new journals in line with the company process

• Manage and develop journalism accordance with the company strategy - create and implement journal business plans; ensure the financial and editorial targets set can be met

• Work with partners, editors and ACS Publications staff to ensure efficiency, timeliness, and overall high quality of the published materials, as well as appropriate promotion for the journals

• Develop and maintain excellent working relationships with partners, editors and other stakeholders, acting as their key point of contact for journal matters

• Collaborate with stakeholders globally to contribute to the overal strategy of the ACS journals and division-wide projects

• Master's degree or above in Chemistry or allied sciences. Advanced degree (Ph.D.) preferred but not essential

• At least 8 years of experience in STM journals with a track record of journal acquisition and management is preferred.

• An established network with the chemical sciences community will be advantageous

• Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities, as well as leadership and management skills are required

• Strong interpersonal and relationship management skills

• A team player with excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Chinese

• Willingness to travel extensively within China and occasionally overseas
