针对博士生的心理健康问题,Nature杂志社的评论文章提出了一些解决方案[13-17]。在博士研究中,失败是不可避免的,例如研究成果被抢发、实验方案无效、经费不足导致数据收集受限等,这些都可能延迟进度甚至迫使研究人员从头再来。为应对这些挑战,建议博士生保持充足的睡眠、合理饮食、多运动,并在需要时寻求校内心理健康服务的帮助[13,14]。此外,合理安排工作时间,避免拖延,同样至关重要 [15]。不少受访者也提到,“职业生涯初期选择一位好导师,是决定职业成败的关键”[16,17]。
如果感到学术道路难以为继,转向工业界或许是更好的选择。根据美国国家科学基金会的调查,2021年,美国新毕业的博士生中只有三分之一进入学术岗位,而在2001年,这一比例接近60% [18]。另一项调查显示,来自工业界的受访者比来自学术界更可能对自己的工作感到满意,“这证明了学术界之外,同样存在令人充实且高薪的职业机会” [16]。
生活总是充满挑战,读博的这几年尤甚。当你下定决心“放马西行”,也就要做好准备“直面天命”。现实世界里,没有在关键时刻伸出援手的神佛,只有自己才是救赎自己的摆渡人。在毕业答辩的那一天,回望一路跌宕起伏的旅程,相信你会感受到博士学位之外的沉甸收获。当然,人生道路万千,读博只是其中之一。无论读不读博,都可以活得精彩,都可以不负此生!
