·On April 15, 1958, the first Conference of Independent African States was held in Accra, the capital of Ghana, which was the first Pan African Conference held in Africa. The meeting proposed to establish Africa Freedom Day to "commemorate the progress of the national liberation movement every year and symbolize the determination of the African people to break away from foreign domination and exploitation".

·The meeting passed the Charter of the Organization of African Unity and decided to designate May 25th, the day of signature of the Charter, as "African Liberation Day", abbreviated as "Africa Day". Africa Day became a symbol of African people's struggle for independence and freedom. Nowadays, "African Liberation Day" has become a symbol of African people's struggle for progress and development.

·Africa Day is an important commemoration day for African people to strive for independence and strengthen unity. On May 25, 1963, under the banner of Pan-Africanism, the predecessor of the African Union, the Organization of African Unity, was established, and May 25 was designated as "Africa Day". The establishment of the Organization of African Unity has initiated a process of unity, self-improvement,development,and revitalization in Africa.

· “非洲日”是非洲人民争取独立、加强团结的重要纪念日。1963年5月25日，在泛非主义旗帜引领下，非洲联盟前身“非洲统一组织”成立，并将5月25日定为“非洲日”。非洲统一组织的成立，开启了非洲联合自强、发展振兴的进程。
