事故发生后不久，“SEASPAN GANGES” 号集装箱船可能受影响不大已离开港口。根据船讯网AIS数据显示：截止6日晚21:46时，“MILANO BRIDGE”号集装箱还没有系泊靠港，可能是由于该次事故有桥吊部件倒塌在船尾没有分离。事发后釜山消防部门和昌原海岸警卫队正在控制现场并调查事故起重机周围的三台起重机的安全问题。事故原因正在进一步调查中。
数据显示，集装箱“MILANO BRIDGE”是THE联盟ONE旗下一艘经营亚洲-地中海MD航线的船舶，涉及HAPAG-LLOYD、ONE、YANG MING三家船公司供舱，即将挂靠国内港口包括：青岛港、上海港、宁波港和蛇口港等多个港口。
目前事故原因正在调查中，可能会出现船期延误的情况。
