With the conclusion of the federal and the provincial elections on Thursday, Nepal cemented its way towards being Federal Democratic Republic nation. The elections may have been over, but the fever isn’t!
The nation has been observing the polling results with great interest and enthusiasm, watching the Communist Alliance rake in more than 50% win from the constituencies counted. And where vote counting is ongoing, the Alliance has rightful reasons to remain optimistic.
As of 3:30 p.m., 10th December, the Communist Alliance has 75 elected members in the House of Representatives – 53 from CPN UML and 22 from Maoist Centre, respectively. Congress, the second leading party has only 11 seats and 10 are being shared by other parties, Baburam Bhattarai of Naya Shakti, Upendra Yadav of Federal Socialist Forum, and Rajendra Mahato of Rastriya Janata Party Nepal, to name a few.
From the remaining, the alliance is leading in 41 constituencies, whereas Congress in 12, and 14 by other parties of Nepal.
