Two Liebherr LHM 550 mobile harbour cranes were dropped into the water in Rostock while being loaded aboard a heavy lift ship

The incident, which occurred on 31st Janaury, has been reported by DVZ – Deutche Verkehrs-Zentrum.

According to DVZ, Dutch heavy lift vessel JUMBO VISION had already loaded one LHM 550. As the ship’s cranes were positioning the second crane, the vessel listed and both cranes toppled into the water at Port Basin B.

Another source (Fleetmon, photo above), has stated that both cranes had been loaded, when the boom of one of the ship’s cranes swung round and knocked one of them into the water. This caused the ship to list and the other LHM 550 shifted and fell overboard. Two people engaged in the loading operation sustained minor injuries.
DVZ报道称，港口当局罗斯托克·西哈芬（Rostock Seehafen）已派遣波罗的海Baltic Taucher布置油围栏并部署泵，以防止因泄漏液压油而对环境造成的损害降至最低水平。勘测船正在使用3D影像调查起重机的确切水文位置，并正在制定救助计划。
DVZ reported that the port authority, Rostock Seehafen, has appointed Baltic Taucher to put out oil booms and deploy pumps to keep the environmental damage from leaking hydraulic oil at the lowest possible level. A survey vessel is investigating the exact hydrographical position of the cranes using 3D imaging and a salvage plan is being drawn up.
