The 138th China Import and Export Fair, also known as the Canton Fair, concluded on Nov 4, demonstrating China's foreign trade resilience despite global economic challenges.
A record-breaking 310,000 overseas buyers from 223 countries and regions attended, marking a 7.5 percent increase from the previous session. Notably, 69 percent of buyers came from countries and regions involved in the Belt and Road Initiatives, with significant growth from the European Union, the Middle East, the United States, and Brazil.
The fair achieved on-site intended export transactions of $25.65 billion, maintaining steady growth. The traditional markets remained stable.
Exhibitors showcased 4.6 million products, with innovative, green items and products with independent intellectual property rights, each accounting for over 23 percent of displays. Highlights included AI-powered devices, zero-plastic home products, and bio-based materials.
The 632 new product launches reinforced the fair's role as a global innovation platform.
Digital integration enhanced the experience, with QR code credentials reducing registration time to 30 seconds. AI-assisted image review achieved over 80 percent accuracy, while indoor navigation services were used 477,000 times.
The fair continued supportive policies, including a 50 percent fee reduction for exhibitors and full waivers for rural revitalization zones.
The next Canton Fair is scheduled for April 15 to May 5, 2026, in Guangzhou, Guangdong province.
