To ensure the opening of the 138th Canton Fair’s second phase, working staff removed exhibits and booths in the first phase and set up new booths, displaying new exhibits. The process took only 76 hours, becoming another example of “Chinese speed”.
Behind this lies the overall planning, the team collaboration, and more importantly, the professionalism of all exhibition staff. They efficiently dismantled 25,000 booths and built 25,000 new ones in the exhibition area of more than 1 million square meters.
The China Foreign Trade Centre has made planning and meticulous arrangements. As early as mid-September, the CFTC approved the preparation, dismantling and rebuilding plan. In late September, it established a command center for the rebuilding work and held a special meeting for on-site operations.
Every link in the process was carefully planned and repeatedly rehearsed to ensure seamless connection and no mistakes. Twenty-three standard operating procedures were strictly implemented.
In the Hall 3.2 and Hall 4.2 of Zone A during the phase 1, the proportion of custom-built booths exceeded 90 percent, of which nearly 100 enterprises had booths on the second floor.
This area has always been a big challenge in the dismantling work over the past sessions. To address this, the command center conducted four special research and discussions and deployed additional resources.
In this project racing against time, nearly 250 cadres and employees of the customer service center are also a key force. Among them, Party members took the lead as role models and stuck to the front line. Young staff worked side by side with security personnel, staying up for emergency response all night long.
Smooth transportation is a key link in the rebuilding work. On the first day of dismantling, a long traffic jam took place outside Gate 13 of Zone C. Yu Hailin, head of the traffic section of the security department and a Party member, relying on his rich working experience, made a temporary decision to redirect vehicles through the internal roads of the exhibition hall and exit to Xinguang East Road via Gate 11.
This measure expanded the drop-and-go area and avoided traffic congestion on Huizhan South Third Road.
As dusk fell, Yu still stood at the intersection directing traffic. There are numerous CFTC staff members like Yu who stepped forward at such critical moments.
Behind the efficient operation, the efforts of many service teams are indispensable.
Hundreds of on-site safety supervisors patrolled each area to safeguard construction safety. Security personnel took turns on duty day and night to maintain order in the venues. Equipment maintenance personnel stood by throughout the process to ensure the stable operation of facilities. Medical teams were also stationed early to provide healthcare support.
