Austrian Subsidiaries in China are slightly optimistic for 2026. ADVANTAGE AUSTRIA Offices in China presented in a January 14, 2026 video call the Results of the October 2025 "Global Business Barometer Survey" among Austrian Subsidiaries operating in China. On the positive side, China’s appeal as a business location remains strong thanks to its advanced infrastructure, digital capabilities, and reliable supplier networks, yet challenges persist, including tight controls on cross-border capital flows, bureaucratic complexity, rising labor costs, and worsening payment practices. Geopolitical risks continue to weigh on sentiment, with systemic rivalry, protectionism, military tensions, and economic sanctions cited as the greatest concerns. Most subsidiaries think that turnover, order book stock and capacity utilization for their Chinese subsidiary will improve in 2026, few think that their workforce size or further investment in China will increase.
