As 2019 closes and UMS celebrates its 9th anniversary, we reflect on a busy year, review its highlights and open a new chapter of development for 2020. 


2019 Hightlight Moment With Our UMS Team


In 2019, UMSers got even more creative. Both the annual tradition of the UMS Christmas event featuring "who is your secret Santa" and the spooky Halloween party were just a few of the ways we got together and celebrated in 2019.

In July 2019, UMS expanded Australian operations with the launch of its new office in Sydney, and expanded its Shanghai office in September. This is a reflection of the growth we are experiencing both in new business and from our existing clients.

 March

UMS collaborated with ACBC SA branch to equip and accelerate South Australian businesses. This included improving capabilities to attract investment and executing effective e-commerce and digital marketing strategies in China.




 April

The UMS China workshop 2019 Explore Trade Show was successfully held in Eden Park Auckland. Jordi Du (UMS general manager, NZ) was invited to present about how businesses can harness Chinese tourists in the digital world. This strategy provides tourist operators with the right insights to make smart digital investments in China, build an effective marketing strategy and achieve sustainable growth.




May

UMS CEO Jessica Miao was invited as a speaker at an AustCham Shanghai event discussing the opportunities for Australian Food & Beverage brands in the China market. The discussion highlighted some of the major challenges F&B brands face when preparing digital marketing campaigns for the China market.




June

Our New Zealand General Manager Jordi Du was invited to participate in 2019 HSBC NZCTA China Business Awards Grand Gala Dinner in Auckland.




July

To coincide with the launch of United Media Solution’s new Sydney office, we hosted an educational evening "The secret to success in China: Understanding Chinese consumers", to provide marketers with insights into Chinese consumer behaviours and strategic advice to help grow brands and products in China.




August

UMS General Manager Jordi Du was invited to speak at the 2019 New Zealand International Education Conference (NZIEC). NZIEC is the annual conference for New Zealand’s international education industry. He outlined and discussed the overall social media landscape in China focusing on key trends and consumer behaviour.




September

UMS set up the Digital Marketing Accelerator program for New Zealand businesses. This program features insights, case studies and tips on how to effectively market your products and services in China using on-trend approaches and the latest technologies. 




October

UMS joined the 2019 Affinità New York City Network Meeting in USA. UMS CEO Jessica Miao delivered a presentation on China Digital Marketing to fellow network agency leaders. 




November

UMS led the marketing panel at Australia-China F&B Forum in Shanghai. The panel, titled “Marketing to China: Platforms, KOLs and the Chinese Consumer”, was moderated by UMS’ marketing professional Amit Moorjani from our Australia office. 




December

Jo Ruo, Senior Sales and Marketing Manager, UMS Australia, shared her knowledge on ‘Internet Celebrity and Fan Economy: How to use New Marketing Methods to Boost Imported Food Sales in China’ at The 2nd ChemLinked Food Regulatory Conference in Sydney.



2019 Highlight Moments With Our Clients


Farmers Union enlisted UMS to create a digital social marketing campaign to help raise awareness of its brand and products, with a particular focus on mothers living in China’s tier one cities, such as Shanghai, Beijing and Guangzhou. UMS created a strategy using live streaming, a major entertainment medium in China, and enlisted a KOL to help drive brand awareness and increase sale conversions of Farmers Union products.

We welcomed our client Hither & Yon to our Ningbo headquarter for our Halloween Party where we got to participate in tasting Hither & Yon’s fantastic selection of wines.

UMS was invited to attend the Omega Plus brand launch party in Shanghai. Omega Plus is a sub-brand of New Zealand King Salmon and aims to supply the highest quality food for people’s beloved pets. UMS looks forward to supporting the in-market activities for Omega Plus in China! A big congratulations to Omega Plus!

UMS has successfully assisted two New Zealand brands to co-brand with Les Mills International to promote New Zealand dairy and fruit products to Chinese consumers. Our clients Pāmu and New Zealand Avocado certainly left great impressions to people who attended the ‘Shake Suzhou’ Les Mills Live The One 2019 event.
