Since its completion end of 2021 the G-Box became an industry icon for a mobile, modular, and multi-sensory configurator experience. Its second iteration, the G-Box 2.0, incorporates many upgrades in materials, design and user experience tailored for the roadshow usage. In December 2022, Mercedes-Benz China sent it off as integrated part of their pop-up store concept #梅赛德斯-奔驰G级越野车匠心高定城市巡展 to promote their individualization program G MANUFAKTUR.
With stops in 3 big cities across China, customers, prospects and G enthusiasts can experience, configure and learn about every aspect of their future G-Class.

The G-Box 2.0 is a collaboration project of mediaman Shanghai (Digital & Implementation), anySCALE (Industrial Design) and U-Isaria (Construction & Implementation) for Mercedes-Benz China.

Engaging users means engaging their senses. Combining the visual quality of a gaming engine with real samples and powerful sound lets users experience the iconic SUV with more than just the eye. The new form of user experience is multi-sensory – emotionalizing users on their journey to their individual car.
3D-printed parts to get a feeling about shape and material invite the user to interact with more than just the screen, allowing for direct interaction via RFID. Visual feedback works both ways, with built-in LEDs highlighting possible choices or syncing with the chosen ambient light color. The iconic sound of the SUV adds an acoustic level – goosebumps guaranteed.
In the G-Box, we united gaming engine based car configurator with other physical and digital core technologies, such as WeChat mini-program, to extend the customer interaction beyond the showroom with shareable and personalized content. Making it a fully connected multi-sensory experience.
