mediaman's work was awarded with the Digital Media Awards 2022

Campaign Asia-Pacific's Digital Media Awards 2022 that is set out to celebrate outstanding ideas, work, agencies, brands and talent in the Greater China region, awarded the Mercedes-Benz G-Box with the Gold Award for “Best Use of Technology”.

The judges recognized this new form of “phygital” and customer-centric retail which combines technologies like Unreal Engine 4 (Gaming Engine), RFID, 3D-Printing and connects them to the online world (WeChat Mini-Program).
The G-Box represents also a great collaboration of three agencies: mediaman Shanghai (Digital & Implementation), anySCALE (Industrial Design) and U-Isaria (Construction & Implementation) which were able to present their strong core capabilities at their best.

In the future, the G-Box will play an important role at dealerships or other retail locations in presenting the G-Class in all possible individual configurations, to visualize complexity but most importantly to give a customer an emotional and unique buying experience.

About the G-Box
Engaging users means engaging their senses. The G-Box is an innovative sales experience for the Mercedes-Benz G-Class, transforming any venue into a product sales area.
The centerpiece is the 360-degree real-time configurator based on Unreal Engine 4, which visualizes the G-Class in native 4K resolution on a 65-inch touchscreen. But it is also a multi-sensory interaction: 3D printed parts allow for a sense of shapes and materials, making every choice an interplay of physical elements and real-time digital visualization.


The box is equipped with sensors, lights and sounds that react to user interactions and offer a truly audiovisual experience that will give you goosebumps. Each unique G-Class customization created on the G-Box can be taken via WeChat, shared with friends or simply ordered.
