The 2021 China International Fair for Trade in Services (hereinafter referred to as the "CIFTIS") will be held in Beijing in early September. In addition to China National Convention Center, the host place of the previous CIFTIS sessions, 8 thematic exhibitions and supporting forums and peripheral events of this CIFTIS will be arranged in Shougang Park Hall for the first time.
According to Shougang Park on May 8, up to now, the construction drawings and interior design drawings of all the works of the CIFTIS Shougang Park venue project have been completed, and the site leveling and foundation construction within the scope of the project have been finished, marking that the project has officially entered the stage of venue construction. The project will be subject to final acceptance of construction by the end of July, and the exhibition arrangement will be started thereafter.
Han Yanhai, Deputy Head of Engineering Construction Department, Beijing Shougang Construction Investment Co., Ltd., stated that the project commenced on February 19. At present, some venues have begun to take shape, and the whole venue is expected to be 80 percent completed by the end of May.
It is reported that the CIFTIS Shougang Park venue takes the Industrial Heritage Park in the north area as the core. The project is planned in a comprehensive way to integrate with the Olympic venues, industrial relics and important landscape nodes, forming a "three horizontal and one vertical" landscape corridor system, and emphasizing the visual experience combined with the pedestrian system. The main exhibition area is designed with peripheral layout, shaping the cluster-type exhibition with highlighted urban park features. In the meantime, structural reinforcement and architectural renovation are performed for the centralized building area based on tool workshop, repair workshop, dust workshop, pump house and many other industrial relics, to serve as conference room, VIP room, catering space, office room and other service facilities.
The CIFTIS Shougang Park venue is composed of 15 exhibition halls, covering an area of about 94,000 square meters, including temporary venues, removable temporary venues and open venues. The main body of the venues is designed with steel structure, which can realize the recycling of materials in the later stage. The open halls, covering an area of 9,000 square meters, will be constructed with prefabricated tensioned membrane structure to avoid changes and adjustments to the original ground. The membrane structure roof design makes full use of natural lighting to illuminate the exhibition halls, minimizing the demand for energy.
Zhou Ting, Architectural Designer of the Planning and Design Department of Beijing Shougang Construction Investment Co., Ltd., said that, unlike previous exhibitions, the exhibition halls of this CIFTIS will be set up in Shougang Park in a small and scattered way, which allows visitors to watch the exhibition at the same time while visiting the Industrial Heritage Park. The venues will also be arranged among existing industrial relics to work in concert with each other.

It is understood that the 2021 CIFTIS is planned to set up 8 themes, covering services related to telecommunication, computer and information, finance, culture and tourism, education, sports, supply chain and business, engineering consulting and construction as well as health and hygiene. And 6 activities consisting of Global Trade in Services Summit, forums and conferences, exhibitions, promotional business talks, achievement announcement and other peripheral events are planned to be held. The exhibition will occupy an area of about 130,000 square meters, and over 100 forums and conferences, promotional business talks and other events will be held. In addition, business investigation, investment promotion, cultural experience and other supporting activities will be arranged for exhibitors during this CIFTIS.
Yu Hua, Design Director of Beijing Shougang Construction Investment Co., Ltd., said that, the "dual venue" design will be adopted for this CIFTIS, which will combine the landscape, industrial sites and urban renewal of Shougang Park, and pay more attention to the cluster and community landscape environment as well as the organic integration with the current industrial development direction. Besides, the concept of sustainable development is also reflected in the design of the CIFTIS venues, and large press conferences, fairs and concerts can be held in membrane structure exhibition venues.
