The University of Cambridge is one of the world's oldest universities and leading academic centres. It is made up of over 150 departments, faculties, schools and other institutions.
Cambridge also has 31 colleges which are independent institutions, each with its own property and income. The Colleges appoint their own staff on their own terms and conditions and are responsible for selecting students, in accordance with University regulations. The teaching of students is shared between the Colleges and University departments. Degrees are awarded by the University.

About projects
The Department of Computer Science and Technology is seeking to recruit a new faculty member at the Assistant or Associate Professor level who can contribute to research and teaching in the area of Algorithms and Complexity.
The analysis of algorithms and the complexity of algorithmic problems have been a foundational part of computer science since its inception. The department is home to a thriving group whose research encompasses descriptive complexity and the analysis of random processes. A common theme is the analysis of algorithms and complexity on graph-structured data and the underlying graph theory. The successful candidate will join this group and extend its research reach in new directions.
Qualifications
We are looking for a candidate with outstanding research credentials in the broad area encompassing mathematical modelling and analysis of algorithmic processes, as well as understanding their complexity and resource use. This is a core area of computer science with rich interactions with other computational and mathematical subjects, including algebra, graph theory, probability theory and optimization.
The ideal candidate for this position will have a strong international track record of publication and impact commensurate with their research area and experience. They will have the ability, or potential, to secure research funding to support their research vision and build a world-class team of researchers. We welcome applications from researchers with interdisciplinary interests who will collaborate with people across different subdisciplines in Computer Science and Technology and with other academic disciplines. Collaborations outside academia are also highly-valued, including with industry and third-sector organizations.
Candidates will be excellent communicators and will be committed to the teaching of both undergraduate and Master's courses. They will also be expected to supervise research at Masters and PhD level.
