Department of Mathematics and Computer Science (IMADA), University of Southern Denmark (SDU)

Location: Odense, Denmark

Start Date: 1 April 2025 (with flexibility)

The Department of Mathematics and Computer Science (IMADA) at the University of Southern Denmark invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor position in Algorithms, with a focus on Algorithmic Cheminformatics. The position will initially be funded by the MATOMIC project for the first three years, followed by department funding.

About the MATOMIC Project:

The MATOMIC project ("Mathematical Modelling for Microbial Community Induced Metabolic Diseases") focuses on developing methods based on graph transformation techniques to represent molecules and reactions. The candidate will collaborate with IMADA researchers to develop novel algorithms and modelling techniques, with practical implementations. Key Responsibilities:

Work on novel algorithm development in algorithmic cheminformatics, focusing on graph-based representations of molecules and reactions.

Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of researchers.

Contribute to teaching and advising in the department’s Bachelor, Master’s, and PhD programs.

We are looking for candidates with:

A PhD and research background in Computer Science with a focus on Algorithms.

A strong track record of publications in top-level conferences and journals.

An interest in applying algorithmic ideas to real-world problems.

A willingness to contribute to teaching at all academic levels.

Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of Danish is not a prerequisite.
