About the position
Start Date: May 1, 2025 (or as soon as possible)
Location: Ingolstadt, Germany
Duration: Initially up to 3 years, with the possibility of extension. The position can also be filled as part-time (e.g., 50%).
About KU: The Catholic University of Eichstätt-Ingolstadt (KU) is a non-state university under church leadership and recognized by the Free State of Bavaria. With a focus on research and excellent teaching, KU offers a range of academic programs in a variety of disciplines, serving approximately 5,000 students. The university employs 900 individuals and is committed to creating an academic culture grounded in Christian values.
About the Chair of Logistics and Operations Analytics: The Chair of Logistics and Operations Analytics specializes in fundamental and application-oriented research in areas such as operations research, machine learning, data-driven optimization, and game theory. Applications focus on transportation logistics, mobility, urban logistics, production planning, and supply chain management. The Chair has collaborations with national and international universities and applies its research in various industry and research projects.
Research Environment: The PhD student will join the Department of Operations at the Ingolstadt School of Management, where they will collaborate with other PhD students and PostDocs working on similar research topics. The Chair is also part of the Mathematical Institute for Machine Learning and Data Science (MIDS) at KU. There are opportunities for international collaborations and research stays, including cooperation with CIRRELT in Montreal.

Temporary position as a research associate (TV-L E-13, 75%) for up to 3 years, with the possibility of continued employment.

Requirements
We are seeking a motivated candidate with a background in:
Management, Economics, Industrial Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related field.
Experience with Operations Research methods (e.g., mathematical programming, discrete optimization).
Expertise in programming algorithms or mathematical modeling is an advantage.
Additionally, the candidate should be able to support teaching in the Digital-and-Data Driven Business and Business Analytics & Operations Research programs in German and/or English (German language skills are not required).
