About the position
Trinity College Dublin is offering two fully funded PhD positions for 4 years, with exciting opportunities to work on cutting-edge research projects:
1. Statistical Methods for Complex Networks and Multidimensional Networks
Research Focus: Developing novel statistical methods for analyzing complex and multidimensional networks.
Project Description: The project aims to create methodologies to model the dependence between multiple networks using latent variables and Bayesian inference. The research will focus on networks where relations evolve over time or different types of relationships are observed among subjects.

2. Statistical Modelling for Dietary Patterns and Health Outcomes (T-DIET Project)
Research Focus: Developing statistical methods for dietary patterns analysis and their connection to health outcomes.
Project Description: This project will utilize Hidden Markov Models (HMMs) to infer dietary patterns from longitudinal food intake data, while incorporating quantile regression to explore the relationships between dietary patterns, adherence, and health outcomes. The methodology will contribute to nutritional epidemiology and be made available as open-source software.

Requirement
A minimum of a 2.1 honours degree or equivalent in mathematics, applied mathematics, or statistics (or expected to attain prior to project start).
Proficiency in statistical modelling and experience with statistical computing (R, Python, or C).
English language proficiency (for non-native English speakers) in line with Trinity College Dublin’s requirements.
