About the position
University of Bergen, Norway
Project: “New Horizons of Parameterized Complexity” (ERC Advanced Grant)
Start: April 2026 (negotiable)
Role
Develop multivariate algorithmic and complexity tools for optimisation problems on geometric/algebraic objects (points, vectors, linear spaces, matrices). All algorithmic research areas welcome.
Eligibility
PhD in Computer Science or Mathematics awarded before appointment date (thesis must be submitted by application deadline).
Strong research record and motivation to work in a collaborative environment.
Conditions
Position code 1109 (Researcher), gross annual salary NOK 657 000; increases with service; higher salary possible for exceptional candidates.
Enrolment in Norwegian Public Service Pension Fund; comprehensive welfare benefits.
Dynamic research atmosphere: weekly seminars, frequent visitors, travel support, full integration into Bergen Algorithms Group.
