The HKEX University Training Series 2019 visited the Shanghai University of Finance and Economics on 16 November, drawing more than 280 students, teachers and financial representatives for the one-day session. It marked a perfect end for the training series this year.

Assistant Dean of the School of Finance at Shanghai University of Finance and Economics Cao Xiao said in his welcoming address that the university is always committed to nurturing world-class financial talent, adding this training session provided a valuable opportunity for students to fully understand and study international capital markets and trends in the industry.

HKEX Senior Vice President and Head of Mainland Client Development Elena Lin said while the Mainland and Hong Kong capital markets have become increasingly connected in recent years, more Mainland financial institutions are looking to expand their businesses in the international arena. The training series aimed to help Mainland students learn about international financial markets, products, and the profession in general to increase their competitiveness in the job market.

The workshops covered five major areas including the latest developments in international capital markets and operation of exchanges, an overview of products, a look at corporate finance and offshore listings, RMB exchange risk management, and the international commodity market.
