As part of the ongoing efforts to encourage more Mainland new economy companies to list in Hong Kong, HKEX has teamed up with Bank of Communications for a series of financial forums in the Mainland, with the latest one held on 20 June.
HKEX’s Chief China Economist Professor Ba Shusong gave a keynote speech on new economic transformation and financial development trend at the 2020 Hubei Enterprises Finance E-cloud Forum. Ba gave an overview of the latest developments in global financial markets under the pandemic, explaining how HKEX’s new listing rules can help support the growth of new economy enterprises. The rapid development of Hong Kong’s bond market has made it an important financing channel for new economy enterprises.
Ba added that the pandemic accelerated the digital and intelligent transformation of the economic system with a focus on exploring new structural potential. The rapid development of the new economy and new industries, including biotech and pharmaceuticals, has become an important driving force for economic transformation. HKEX is committed to helping new economy enterprises and promoting the healthy and vigorous development of capital markets.
HKEX’s SVP of Global Issuer Services Winnie Han elaborated on how the listing reform has added vibrancy and diversity to our markets. As the preferred choice for mainland companies listing outside of Mainland, HKEX is dedicated to providing a diversified financing platform for new economy companies, helping Mainland enterprises connect with the international capital market. HKEX celebrates 20 years as a listed company this year, and we will continue to play a critical role as the connector, translator, and bridge between China and the rest of the world.
