    埃及灯具市场:SKD本土制造的三次浪潮

  二、老贸易商:八年前的 SKD 布局早在八年前,嗅觉敏锐的埃及老贸易商已开启转型。面对进口关税与物流成本压力,他们率先引入 SKD(半散件)模式,通过进口核心组件在本地组装成品。这种模式既规避了整机进口的高税率,又能灵活适配市场需求,不少贸易商借此从 “中间商” 转型为 “制造商”,在开罗周边工业园形成了成熟的组装集群,成为市场中坚力量。

  三、中企建厂:疫情后的制造升级疫情彻底改写了市场规则,中国企业加速落地埃及建厂。从 WINPEX 集团投资 1500 万美元建设 LED 灯具厂,到旺奇照明带动上下游配套协同发展,中企不再满足于单纯出口,而是通过本土化制造实现品牌扩张。依托苏伊士运河经济区的自贸优势,产品可辐射全非市场。这也意味着,低附加值的成本灯饰出口已无竞争力,“制造本土化” 成为埃及市场的必答题。

 1. Local Leading Brands: Upholding Manufacturing FoundationsLeading players in Egypt's lighting market have never abandoned independent production. Local benchmarks such as Nile Lighting and Elaraby Group have long focused on localized manufacturing, leveraging policy dividends from Egypt's Vision 2030 strategy to control the entire process from components to finished products. During two field visits, it was found that these brands, with their accurate grasp of local energy efficiency standards and aesthetic needs, have secured large orders for national projects like the New Administrative Capital. Their independent production lines serve not only as a quality guarantee but also a core barrier against trade fluctuations.

  2. Veteran Traders: SKD Layout Since Eight Years AgoEight years ago, insightful veteran Egyptian traders had already begun their transformation. Facing pressures from import tariffs and logistics costs, they took the lead in introducing the SKD (Semi-Knocked Down) model—importing core components for local assembly into finished products. This model not only avoids high tariffs on fully assembled imports but also flexibly adapts to market demands. Many traders thus transitioned from "intermediaries" to "manufacturers," forming mature assembly clusters in industrial parks around Cairo and becoming the backbone of the market.

 

3. Chinese Enterprises Building Factories: Manufacturing Upgrade Post-PandemicThe pandemic completely reshaped market rules, accelerating Chinese enterprises' factory construction in Egypt. From WINPEX Group investing USD 15 million in an LED lighting factory to Wangqi Lighting driving coordinated development of upstream and downstream supporting industries, Chinese enterprises are no longer satisfied with simple exports. Instead, they realize brand expansion through localized manufacturing. Relying on the advantages of the Suez Canal Economic Zone's free trade policies, their products can radiate to the entire African market. This also means that the export of low-value-added cost-effective lighting products no longer has competitiveness, and "localized manufacturing" has become a must-do for the Egyptian market.
