圣诞月，老外HERE联合成都根与芽做了一系列环保活动，用特别的方式庆祝圣诞节，对抗雾霾。
This Christmas, Laowai Here worked with Roots & Shoots on a series of environmental activities with a festive twist!
低碳家庭挑战赛
The Low-Carbon Living Challenge
我们公开招募家庭成员进行低碳生活尝试与挑战，经过报名，共有9个家庭入选本次活动。
Families registered for our environmentally-friendly challenge. Nine families were selected for the event in total. Here’s what they got up to....
1、环保生活培训
Family Training for Environmental Protection
▲9个家庭在成都活水公园接受了低碳生活工作坊的培训。
每个家庭纷纷罗列出自己生活中可以环保节能的小妙招，并计划在未来两周的挑战时间里纷纷将这些计划落地实施。
Roots & Shoots took the families to Chengdu Water Park for a day of environmental protection life skills training. Each family listed the ways they could make changes to their lives, then created an environmentally friendly plan specific to their own needs!
2、环保家庭严格实践
Environmentally-Friendly Family Experience Rules
▼减少垃圾的产生，特别减少难以在大自然中降解的塑料袋。
Reduce waste generation at home, in particular save and use fewer plastic bags
▼节水小妙招：洗手洗菜后的水可以冲厕所，只需一个塑料桶就能做到。
- Save water, for example flushing the toilet less, taking shorter showers and so on....
▼干湿垃圾分类装，厨余垃圾可做堆肥，干垃圾正确分类，提高资源循环率。
不少家庭在尝试了垃圾分类后感叹，其实分类，就是在扔忘垃圾桶之前多想2秒钟！
eparate garbage into dry rubbish and wet rubbish. Dry goods can be separated into plastics, paper and metals, ‘wet rubbish’ (kitchen waste) can be used for composting.
在垃圾处理前端的一点点分类举动，便能给处理后端带去极大的流程简化，也便于让可回收再利用的物品免收污染，提高资源使用率。

圣诞节之“小小圣诞老人环保市集”
“LITTLE SANTA” Christmas Fair
12月24日，环保家庭摊主将家中旧物进行二手售卖，孩子们通过自己的劳动成为圣诞老人，给地球送上一份圣诞礼物.
（售卖所得的30%收入捐赠给了成都根与芽环保教育项目。）
On 24th of DEC, Families took their kids being the vendors at the Fair, selling the second-hand goods from home . The income from sales at this event donated through 'Roots and Shoots' to child-focused environmental education programs.

通过两周的低碳家庭挑战赛，学习到了许多低碳生活常识，粗略估计了一下，一个家庭一年所产生的垃圾量也是十分的i惊人，所以我们应当把低碳理念落实到日常家庭生活中去。
“Over the past two weeks I’ve learned a lot about low-carbon living. I can’t believe how much waste the average family generates over a one year period. I think it’s important for families to start bringing in the concept of low-carbon living into daily family life.
何泫墨:
两个星期只是一个小小阶段，却是一个不同以往的开始，我会把低碳挑战继续融入生活，带动孩子，影响身边更多人！
In just two weeks we made some small steps, and now I will try to continue integrating the ‘Low-Carbon Challenge’ into all aspects of life. I want to encourage our children and others around to be more environmentally pro-active, too!
