Q: I have been working in Chengdu since 2013. What are the requirements for the 5 year residence permit? 现在成都对外国人的5年签需要什么条件？
A: According to the new regulations, for the 5 year residence permit, the foreign individual needs to have already been issued with 2 or more work visas previously. After at least having 2 work visas, the 5 year visa may be issued.首先要有2次成功的申请记录
Alternatively, the individual must have worked in China for a minimum of 4 years consecutively with at least 6 months per year staying within China.其次需要在中国工作至少4年，每年在中国工作时间大于6个月
Q: Can I have both a student visa and a work permit? “我”能同时申请学生签和工签吗？
A: No, unfortunately at this time there are quite strict regulations separating students and employees. However, students can definitely enjoy the new Internship and Entrepreneur visas post-graduation, as well as be hired by a China-based company which can issue foreigner working visas.不行，现在的政策相对严格的把学生签和工作签做了区分，但在外国学生毕业后可以享受实习签和创业签，或者由一些中国公司聘用，申请工作签。
Q: What are the rules for renewals of a Z-Visa (work visa) or residence permit? 小伙伴顺利拿到签证的，该如何续签？
A: 2 methods…2种方式
First method: If you already have 4 years of working visa in Chengdu, just continue to RENEW your work visa, which in turn issues a new residence permit. Applying for the 5 year residence permit is just the same as getting your work visa like before, just the duration of stay has increased for some individuals. NOTE: Renewals are possible as long as your residence permit has not expired. Renew the visa PRIOR TO RESIDENCE PERMIT EXPIRATION. If you wish to change company, it’s also not a problem. You will need a ‘release reference letter’, and then your current work status is transferred into a different organisation’s name.只要你的居留许可没有过期，续签是可能的。在居留许可期满之前更新签证。
Second method: If your residence permit is going to expire, then you will need to make a RE-APPLICATION. A re-application will require all the necessary documents for current new work visa applications, including police background check and degree notorization (minimum of a Bachelors degree)如果你的居住证即将到期，那么你需要重新申请。重新申请将要求所有现有的新工作签证申请所需的文件，包括背景调查和学位。
PLEASE NOTE: There’s now more leeway regarding the ‘must have two years post-graduation work experience’ rule. In some cases this can be overruled, e.g. if you are looking for a job in the education field and have a job-specific qualification (such as TESOL/TEFL etc). For other job fields, having another such job-specific qualification may allow the two-year rule to be relaxed.
Q: I am studying in Shanghai, and I would like to know if I need to leave China in order to apply for a work visa post-graduation, or can I do it in the Chinese PSB? 我是一名上海学生，我想知道我是否必须离开中国去申请毕业以后的工签？
A: Unfortunately, the new visa regulations we posted are area-specific to Sichuan and Chengdu only.不幸的是，我们发布的新签证规定只针对四川和成都。
