As summer creeps around the corner, you may find yourself starting to panic. The long Beijing winters are the perfect opportunity to over indulge and lie around on the sofa. Now that Beijing is beginning to swelter, take a look at 5 ways to get fit and get your beach body ready.


1. CrossFit Slash

CrossFit Slash, previously known as Middle Kingdom Fitness, has reopened in Hailong Building, the building that houses Ocean Grounds Coffee. Previously in a small space in Guanghua Lu, the new gym is colossal compared to its predecessor and packed with brand, shiny new equipment. If you’ve yet to hear about CrossFit,it is a strength and conditioning program that incorporates different elements like cardio, body weight exercises and lifting weights. There are classes on everyday, and drop-ins are priced at 160 RMB, but there is an assortment of plans.



2. Factory Fresh

Expect to have eating healthily made easier than ever thanks to a new venture by the creative minds behind Factory by Salt. Factory Fresh delivers market-fresh,healthy and nutritious food to your door step. Menus are created and prepared daily by Executive Chef Camila Betin and include mouth-watering meals like pan-seared tuna and beetroot risotto. Meal plans are split into 3 kinds –FACTORY fit, FACTORY lifestyle and FACTORY performance and are priced accordingly.



3. Mind Body Fitness Retreat

Just need to get away from Beijing for a bit but don’t have the time or money for a full-blown holiday? Than look no further than the popular Mind Body Fitness Retreats, weekend get aways specifically designed to rejuvenate and refresh tired, harassed city dwellers. Take part in their next retreats, which take place on June 12-14th and the 19-21st. Early bird rates start at 1000RMB/day or 2400RMB for 3day/2night program including meals, accommodation at the E-West Villas, transportation and healthy surprises.



4. Juice by Melissa

Want to get fit but yoga isn’t your thing? For a more fun, adrenaline filled workout, try boxing, a favourite of models like Adriana Lima. Guys, think of the ripped physiques of boxers like Manny Pacquiao. The boxing tones and strengthens your arms, and the dodging, ducking and weaving work your core, effectively giving you a total body workout. Hey, if it’s good enough for Victoria’s secret models, it’s good enough for you! Fight Republic, in Soho Shangdu, offers boxing classes taught by professional fighters in a fun, relaxed environment.They are also one of the gyms affiliated with this year’s brawl on the wall, soif you’re in the mood to beat someone up, sign up quick!
