Having personnel prepared to give even the most basic first aid treatment in time of an emergency can save a life. Even in a situation where a life is not at risk, a working knowledge of first aid techniques can limit injuries sustained by a victim. This course covers a wide variety of injuries and conditions which will enable even the most inexperienced person to provide victims with immediate preliminary aid. Shanghai 123 is a grassroots initiative led by the local international community. Designed for individuals and families during their most critical period – with less than 6 months experience in Shanghai – Shanghai 123 is a free half-day orientation showcasing community volunteer talent who talk about common challenges, answer questions and provide practical resources and tips. A light breakfast, lunch and care for children 2-12 years old is provided free of charge.
Launched in 2008 with the help of Michelle Wright, an expat from the USA, a Shanghai Community International School mother, American Women’s Club member and CCS employee, the idea grew organically as an initiative recognizing the need for a not-for-profit, non-partisan platform for sharing resources and tips. Relying 100% on excellent speakers and clear messages/lessons, the program grew to form what we proudly call Shanghai 123, bringing the international community the basics of what is needed for a soft landing in Shanghai.

Talents are hard to find and even harder to retain. Career expectations of China’s young labour force have changed tremendously within the last years. Recruiting and management of China’s young white collar labour force are challenging many companies, as they are faced with unrealistic career expectations from young employees and find it difficult to differentiate themselves as an attractive employer. How can they improve the assessment process and what training programs does young talent really need?
On top, regulations make HR management a very complex process. On July 5, 2015, the “Several Rules on Implementing the Labour Contract Law” were published as draft. These rules contain clarifications about use of employee’s personal data, various clarifications on conclusion of open-ended labour contracts, mutual agreement on suspension of the labour contract, etc.

At this event, we are going to present you:
“William Kentridge: Notes Towards a Model Opera,” a comprehensive retrospective that marks the artist’s largest exhibition in Asia to date. Displayed across a two-story edifice designed by Kentridge’s frequent collaborator Sabine Theunissen in the UCCA Great Hall, the show includes works from nearly every major project the artist has undertaken from 1988 to the present. The exhibition spans a vast array of media: two-dimensional artworks in India ink, charcoal, linocut, and silkscreen print on paper; kinetic sculptures that evoke the Duchampian ready-made tradition; several multi-channel video artworks comprising dozens of projections; and a large-scale installation in the form of an operatic model complete with mechanical puppet actors.
