Ultimate Guide
in Overcoming
Stress
Say Bye to Stress, Say Hello to the New You
The average young professionals have 30 to 100 projects on their plate. Modern workers are interrupted 7 times an hour and distracted up to 2 hours a day. And 4 out of 10 people working at large companies are experiencing a major corporate restructuring, and therefore facing uncertainty about their futures. This may be why more than 40% of adults say they lie awake at night plagued by the stressful events of the day.
Stress will always knock on your door without permission and will stay as long as you let it stay. In the short-term, you may experience pressure to meet a deadline or to fulfill a challenging obligation. But when work stress becomes chronic, it can be overwhelming — and harmful to both physical and emotional health.
Most of us are trying to find solutions and ways to fight stress, but is it possible to do everything that needs to get done and still have energy left over after work? How do you keep cool under so many demands? How do you finish your work, without being overwhelmed by stress? Here are some strategies to decrease your work stress down, and start to meet a new you:
In order to fight stress, you will have to start changing your way of thinking, if none of your thoughts help you to get rid of stress, that means that you will have to embrace a new way of thinking and living, start to reinvent yourself, which will start the development to a healthy new you:

1 | Eat Right and Sleep Well
"Eating badly will stress your system," says Sharon Melnick, Ph.D., a business psychologist and author of just released Success Under Stress, who advises eating a low-sugar, high-protein diet. "And when you're not sleeping well, you're not getting the rejuvenating effects." Most of us have already accustomed to drink coffee because its caffeine effect, but does caffeine really help us to finish our work and relief stress? If you ingest high levels of caffeine, you may feel your mood soar and plummet, leaving you craving more caffeine to make it soar again, causing you to lose sleep, suffer health consequences and, of course, feel more stress.
However, small to moderate amounts of caffeine can lift your mood and give you a boost. But if you want to try something new and you are ready to quit caffeine, then you should try to make friends with Fruits and vegetables. They are great source of energy and protein, and have the good sugars that our body needs. For instance, Walnuts and dark chocolate can become your new sugary friend. Walnuts are rich in heart-healthy fats and also contain melatonin, which aids in sleep. Dark chocolate is a natural mood booster by upping endorphins and boosting serotonin, and who isn’t less stressed when they are happy? Lavender scent aids in relaxation and Avocado can keep glucose levels steady, which helps in your low sugar diet, besides that avocado also contains the good fats. And this at the end will prevent your mood swings.

2 | Recharge Yourself
In order to avoid the negative effect of chronic stress and burnout, we need to establish distance for a moment and be able to find peace, to return to our pre-stress level of functioning. There are plenty of ways to clear your mind and body, studies have shown that stress could actually make us more social. When we are stressed, our body releases a hormone called oxytocin, also known as ¨the hug hormone¨, it is the same hormone that is released when we eat chocolate, and it makes us more affectionate as well.
Another cool discovery that has been proved that when we are stressed and release oxytocin, is that it also affects our social behavior, it makes us more communicative and affectionate towards others, thus improving our social interactions. Instead of being overwhelmed by stress, use that stress to push yourself to be more social at your networking events. You will meet a new you, and you will be surprised how much you can talk when you are under the ¨stress drug¨. And it will be also nice to meet people that are experiencing the same as you, sometimes we need to know that we are not the only one struggling with stress.
3 | Work That Body Out
Another popular way to ¨relax¨ is doing exercise. Studies have shown, that stress also attacks our muscles make them more rigid and heavy, so a good way to relieve them is to move or stretch. 8 to 10 hours sitting, blocks blood vessels, so after work, try going to some dance class, or hit up the gym, you will relief that heaviness from your body and you will be proud of the calories you have rid off.

4 | Create a Schedule for Yourself
Most of us feel a certain amount of adrenaline that encourages us to finish all our work, that ¨push, push, push¨, but instead productivity goes down, and stress levels go up. Organize yourself and prioritize your tasks is the key. Schedule breaks throughout the day, Tony Schwartz of the Energy Project has shown that if we have intense concentration for about 90 minutes, followed by a brief period of recovery, we can clear the buildup of stress and rejuvenate ourselves,” So close your eyes, take a deep exercise breath at your desk or stretch out, whenever you feel overwhelmed, this will restore balance – Melnick. "It's like getting the calm and focus of a 90-minute yoga class in three minutes or less at your desk," she says.
