Finding the right branding strategy to support your startup business goal
Thanks to China’s increasing technological advancement, its embracing of foreign-bred innovation, and openness from its VCs, there is no doubt that China is the top destination to start a new tech company. Startup founders from Europe, Israel, the US and Asia are a growing constituency that is making a home of sorts in China’s first and second-tier cities. According to the interviewees by State of Startups, nearly 40% of them predicted that China would become the next global tech center by 2028.
It is a truly tremendous and exciting market to launch your technology, but the challenges are also equally big - Competing with thousands of Chinese tech companies, targeting Chinese users, and navigating the overall Chinese tech ecosystem. These challenges exist not only because of language and cultural barriers, the survival game in getting heard and noticed in the age of information explosion can be very frustrating. How do you get your product/services heard when you’re just starting? What PR strategy should you use to gain traction for your story and reach a wider public. For tech startups, especially, a comprehensible and enticing PR narrative using diverse media channels goes a long way in fostering popularity and user growth.
When, and how did you come up with your initial PR strategy? Did you experience any “twist and turns” in regards to your PR approach? How do you tell that it was the right timing to shift your branding strategy, and how has it worked out for your startup so far?
