China Global Television Network, or CGTN, is China’s new international media organization. It was launched by the national broadcaster China Central Television (CCTV) on December 31, 2016.
By launching CGTN, we want to re-brand our product to the world, to cope with the global trend in media convergence.

The Role
We are seeking an Art Director for CGTN programs at our global headquarters in Beijing.
-The Art Director manages and oversees the artistic design and project management of the network.
-The Art Director will work with and lead a collaborative team of designers and animators and production coordinators. Balancing creative thinking with interpersonal skills, this person will demonstrate an ability to justify concepts to both upper management and the project teams.
-The Art Director will be tasked with interfacing with members of the production teams to ensure quality and brand consistency.
Description
Successful Art Director (AD) candidates have experience overseeing the graphics area and expert knowledge of what works for TV and what doesn’t. Art Directors will work with senior management to give more visual impact to the news product by optimizing graphics or other special effects such as animation and manage outside vendors on such projects as set design, signage and station image branding materials including print ads and collateral. Art Directors also supervise electronic graphic artists working for the station.
The right candidate has a strong grasp of international affairs and is informed on international news, has deep interest in China and other APAC countries, and wants to contribute to the growth and success of CGTN.
Responsibilities
Develop concepts and packages for broadcast with internal and external creative teams that are aligned with the network’s brand.
Oversee and approve workflow for a dozen designer/animators in all manner of motion and web graphics.
Manage projects from conceptualization to delivery for all news programming.
Directly contributing to project design and development: creating storyboards/initial graphic concepts, conceiving functional design solutions for sets.
Providing quality assurance of all creative deliverables.
Collaborating with show producers on concept and execution of projects and requests ensuring that network branding remains consistent.
Ability to work independently and handle multiple projects at once.
Mentoring and coaching team members through project development and performance management.
Building and maintaining a rapport with graphics producers, producers, partner agencies, animation houses, and other vendors.
Contribute to the innovative development of the creative Department.
Basic Qualifications and Requirements
Fluent English speaker with a valid passport.
5+ years of broadcast design experience in a TV news environment.
Prior management/supervisory experience in a creative capacity; minimum of 3 years preferred.
Solid understanding of the creative development process.
Strong design and conceptualization skills.
Ability to work nights and weekends and additional hours as needed.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Expertise level of Adobe After-Effects, Cinema 4D, Premiere, Photoshop, Illustrator etc. VizRT experience a plus.
A thorough understanding of the trends in visual aesthetics and designs of television news, specifically relating to our international audience.
Must be able to work in a fast-paced and demanding live/24-hour news environment.
Must be able to work irregular hours and work an extended schedule as the news cycle and deadlines require.

Salary basis/benefits and relocation package are negotiable depends on individualsuccessful candidate.
