The Role
CBBC is seeking a highly-motivated individual with excellent communication, research and analytical skills to work as part of a small dedicated policy and advocacy team delivering CBBC’s strategic analysis, identifying what issues mean for UK-China trade relations, and ensuring the views of our members are heard by Government. The role will focus primarily on CBBC’s Premium and Corporate membership tiers which consist of large British companies. The individual will be based in China with the city of work flexible.
Report-line:
The China Policy Analyst will report to the Director, Media and Research, based in London, but work closely with teams across the CBBC network in the UK and China, as well as external partners.
Location: China - Flexible
Gross Salary: RMB 15,000/month
Key Responsibilities
Work together with team leader and fellow policy analyst in London to secure and contribute to both short-term and long-term policy-focused research projects
Monitor Chinese policy development and the business environment in general, identifying key issues that affect UK business and translate into readable and useful commentaries and reports
Lead the collection of views and opinions of CBBC members in China on policy impacting on British trade and investment.
Put together daily summaries of UK press coverage of China in conjunction with London team
Manage key policy and advocacy-focused stakeholder relationships in China, including relevant UK government contacts ,and L9 trade organisations
Develop a pipeline of new products/services, with a particular focus on CBBC’s Premium members
Work with sector colleagues to produce regular and timely sector briefings, based on Chinese policy updates
Represent CBBC at our events and those of our partners.
Specific Requirements
The ideal candidate will have:
A keen interest in international trade policy and business development issues
Excellent communication and writing skills (native English/equivalent)
Strong analytical skills, with experience of undertaking research and analysis
A solid understanding of UK-China trade and investment issues in the global context
An ability to read Mandarin to a high level
Self-motivation and willingness to be flexible

CBBC offer competitive packages which include basic gross salary, social insurance (CBBC cover both employee and company contributions), medical insurance, and generous leave entitlement.
The gross annual package for this position is RMB 180K (Gross Monthly Salary is RMB 15,000 <*12>) with annual pro rata leave entitlement of 30-days pro rata annual leave entitlement for non-Chinese nationals.
