尼日尔与中国自1974年建交以来，经历了多次外交波折。1992年因尼日尔与台湾当局“复交”，两国中断外交关系，直至1996年复交。2024年9月，中尼建立战略伙伴关系，标志着双边合作进入新阶段。然而，2025年尼日尔军政府单方面终止与中国石油公司的合作，并驱逐中方员工，导致两国关系陷入低谷。

Since the establishment of diplomatic relations between Niger and China in 1974, Niger has experienced many diplomatic setbacks. In September 2024, China and Nepal established a strategic partnership, marking a new stage in bilateral cooperation. However, in 2025, the military government of Niger unilaterally terminated its cooperation with Chinese oil companies and expelled Chinese employees, causing the relations between the two countries to hit rock bottom.
Nevertheless, the cooperation achievements between China and Nepal in areas such as infrastructure, energy and healthcare still have a foundation. For instance, China once helped Niger build the Zindel oil Refinery, enabling it to transform from an oil importer to an exporter. The projects such as Niamey General Hospital and the Second Niger River Bridge, which were built with the assistance of China, have also significantly improved the local people's livelihood. Higher education: China offers government scholarship places to Niger, covering undergraduate, master's and doctoral programs. In the 2022-2023 academic year, there were 256 students from Niger studying in China, among whom 103 received the Chinese Government Scholarship.

申请人持通知、护照、健康证明等材料至中国驻尼日尔使馆申请签证；
入境后30日内办理工作居留许可。
学习签证（X字签证）：需提供《外国留学人员来华签证申请表》（JW201表或JW202表）、中国院校录取通知书、体检报告等；
签证有效期通常为3个月，入境后需办理学习类居留许可。
商务签证（M字签证）：需提供中方企业邀请函、营业执照复印件及申请人资金证明；
适用于短期商务考察、贸易洽谈等。
注意事项：
尼日尔公民持外交、公务护照赴华停留不超过30天可免签；
签证申请需通过在线预约系统（https://avas.mfa.gov.cn）提前预约；
办理时间通常为5个工作日，加急服务需额外支付费用。
Citizens of Niger coming to China need to apply for the corresponding visa type according to their purpose:
Work Visa (Z visa) : Chinese enterprises need to apply for the "Notice of Foreigner's Work Permit" online.
Applicants should bring the notice, passport, health certificate and other materials to the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Niger to apply for a visa.
A work residence permit shall be processed within 30 days after entry.
Study visa (X visa) : You need to provide the "Visa Application Form for Foreign Students to Study in China" (JW201 Form or JW202 Form), the admission notice from the Chinese institution, the physical examination report, etc.
The validity period of the visa is usually three months. After entering the country, a study residence permit needs to be applied for.
Business visa (M visa) : An invitation letter from the Chinese enterprise, a copy of the business license and the applicant's financial proof are required.
It is suitable for short-term business investigations, trade negotiations, etc.
Notes:
Citizens of Niger holding diplomatic or official passports can stay in China for no more than 30 days without a visa.
