Architecture is an art: a cultural artifact that expresses time and place. We next host Ben Wood, the head of Studio Shanghai, most famously known for designing Shanghai's Xintiandi. 

Shanghai’s Xintiandi is a living artifact, a place where one can “shout” in the street. The “shout” is shared with others.  And the cities we share live in us. Not a brick has been made in this world without someone thinking of making that brick. We get the cities we deserve. The future can be what we as designers imagine it to be. With each successive reconstruction of the past we create the future.

In this event our distinguished guests, three ranking femalediplomats (Ana Candida Perez, Consul-General of Brazil; Therese Healy,Consul-General | Consulate General of Ireland; Guergana Guermanoff, NewZealand Consul-General) will share their stories on leadership, empowerment andworking across different borders and cultures.

We willalso discuss their thoughts on women’s strengths – consensus building andlistening – and how to tackle the so-called “soft issues,” like women’s rights,and how they personally overturned gender biases to the benefit of theirorganization, their country and themselves.
