All foreigners who are looking to get a Chinese residence permit are required to get a Visa Medical Check. Since 2018 the government no longer accepts foreign visa medical checks. All visa medical checks are required to be completed here in China. Here is what you can expect for the China Visa Medical Check.

Preparation准备
You are required to make an appointment online through the International Travel Healthcare Center website. In shanghai, this website is sithc.shciq.gov.cn but each city has its own website for appointments. The website is available in both English and Chinese. Once the appointment has been made, the website will give you the address for the clinic. Each city only has ONE approved clinic location for foreigners, and it’s normally out in the middle of nowhere. There’s a list of instructions , you need to bring your passport, five passport photos, a copy of your visa and a copy of your exit & entry stamp. You’d might was well bring anything else you can think of, like your residence registration slip from the police, too. You never know what they might throw at you once you’re there. Spend some time plotting how you’ll get there, free up an entire morning and set an early alarm. You’ll want to be in and out before the rush.

Appointment Day预约当天
On the day of the medical check make sure you remember not to eat any breakfast. Once inside, you’ll likely see a few other foreigners, all equally as tired and confused as you are. Fill in the form, approach the counter and pay the exorbitant fee of 700 RMB, (or whatever it may be for your type of visa). You’ll be handed a piece of paper that loosely resembles a checklist, the nurse will then tell you to go to every room.
在医疗检查的那天，一定要记得不要吃早餐。一旦进入室内，你可能会看到其他的外国人，他们都像你一样疲惫和困惑。填写表格，到柜台办理，并支付700元的高昂费用（或其他任何形式的签证）。你会拿到一张纸，上面写着一张清单，护士会告诉你去每个房间。
The Process过程
Health check is simply a matter of hitting all the rooms and getting all the signatures/stamps on the checklist. When done, you have a “complete” health check. The checklist will have 8 different items, each of which will be checked off when you enter a different room. You can complete the exams in any order you like, so just pick the rooms with the least number of people waiting.
健康检查仅仅是一件事，就是把所有的房间都打好，并把所有的签名和邮票都拿到检查表上。完成后，你就有了一个“完整”的健康检查。检查表将有8个不同的项目，当你进入一个不同的房间时，每个项目都会被检查。你可以按照自己喜欢的顺序来完成考试，所以只要选那些等待的人最少的房间就可以了。
1. Draw Blood 抽血
2. Ultrasound (yep, even for guys)超声波（是的，即使是男性）

6. Blood pressure and Chinese pulse checks (Traditional method using fingers on wrist)

Choose a room and enter. Don’t worry about not knowing what’s going on. The medical professionals in each room have done this more times than they’d probably care to remember.

They’ll usher you in, go through the motions alarmingly quickly, sign or stamp your paper in the designated spot and send you on your way. Each room takes less than a minute. The only room that takes a little while longer is the one where they check your internal organs using an ultrasound machine; putting on and then wiping off the icy cold gel takes a while.

Getting your results获得结果
When your blood test comes back from the lab a few days later, you can either come back to the clinic to pick up your complete report or arrange the clinic to send it to the address of your choosing. Either because you have nothing wrong with you or the medical professionals completed their tests so quickly they didn’t register anything, the results will likely show that you’re healthy.
