As part of Climate+, we offset emissions that are generated during transport - for example, through pre- or on-carriage by lorry. The promotion of climate protection projects thus complements the use of green electricity and biofuel. Firstly, we calculate the total CO2e-emissions of the supply chain. You then decide to what extent you want to offset these emissions. In order to achieve our climate protection targets, DB Cargo invests in high-quality compensation certificates (VERs and selected CERs) from projects certified according to strict standards such as VCS + Social Carbon/CCBS or Gold Standard together with our partner 'DB Energie'. The projects promote the expansion of renewable energies and thus contribute to the reduction of CO2e-emissions. Sustainable development in the project regions is also strengthened through technology transfer and the establishment of local economic structures.
