The short-term observation of the fourth quarter in 2025 remains positive according to analysts, since the growth of global trade in the third quarter of 2025 slowed down, however, still increased 2.5% quarter-on-quarter, while trade in the fourth quarter grew as well. Analysts also pointed out that, international trade advances faster than global economy in real terms by 2025.

At the regional level, in the third quarter, trade had better performances in South America and the Pacific, North America declined in its exports, while spot rates from Asia to Europe surged this month. Furthermore, Far East, South America and Africa’s intra-regional trade progressed during the same time. Among these regions, Brazil, South Korea and South Africa had strong increase; as well as China’s imports, but the growth of exports slowed down.

Moreover, as Chinese New Year will come at late February, early bookings may drive European spot rates to increase in the coming weeks according to Drewry's analysts. 

Therefore, logistics operation may face challenges of efficiency and accuracy to handle early bookings during this time, in order to overcome the difficulties that may come.

We mentioned in the last article that the growth of global economic is expected to soften in 2026, which was estimated by several sources, including UNCTAD, which anticipates that the outlook of 2026 is challenging with weak demand and a slowdown in global trade growth, as a result of the lower economic vitality, uncertain trade policy, increasing trade costs and so on. Therefore, it's crucial for the industry to make preparation for the uncertain outlook next year, such as understand the above factors deeply and try to handle the tough situation they may bring, for a smooth transition.
