On 26 September 2025, the first China–Europe freight train departed from Xi’an (north-west China) to Germany via a new multimodal route combining rail and sea transport.
According to Xinhua, the train is carrying auto parts, digital devices, and consumer goods to Hamburg.
📍 Route overview:
Xi’an → Kazakhstan → Russia → St. Petersburg → Baltic Sea → Hamburg → further distribution to Duisburg, Budapest and other European destinations.
⚙️ The new corridor reflects growing efforts to diversify Eurasian logistics amid political risks linked to potential border closures between Belarus and Poland.
This alternative route strengthens trade resilience and highlights the growing role of Russia’s Baltic ports in China–Europe logistics.
