In early December 2017, as part of both Hilton’s Thrive initiative and RMCC work life integration culture, the office embarked on their second round of Thrive themed activities. This time it was up to the individual teams to organize and deliver activities themed around the three pillars of Thrive: Body, Mind and Spirit:
The week kicked off with a healthy breakfast organized by the leadership team, which included homemade cereal and milkshakes. In the afternoon the Lobster’s organized a pizza lunch as well as a quiz afternoon. Chuck tried his hand as quiz master with questions around general knowledge, pop culture and Hilton.
Tuesday was all about Body, with the Pandas led by Clayton Karels organizing a series of body challenges which were themed as RMCC Olympics; these included balancing, squats and planking. In the afternoon, the first RMCC badminton competition was held were 13 warriors joined the games of Men singles/ Women singles and Mixed Doubles. After 2 hours fierce, non- stop competition, congrats Mikael and Mengying won Men singles and Women singles respectively as well as Mixed double victory for them as a team!
Wednesday we turned our attention to Spirit, which was led by the Revenator Alliance and focused on the ‘Spirit of Travel’ by providing top destinations, travel tips, a list of travel books and inspiration to encourage our team members to fully utilize the GO Hilton program and incorporate travel into their lifestyle. We also surveyed our team to determine our favorite destinations, travel bucket lists, most recommended go Hilton properties and most helpful CRMs. This was capped off with a now regular run around the Bund with the RMCC running club led by Amy Mao.
On Thursday, “Mind” day organized by the Longfeng Team, we invited Luna, a mindfulness meditation teacher from UK, to our office and give us a one-hour workshop of mindfulness. This workshop provided us an introduction to mindfulness meditation, and two guided meditations which helped us concentrate and relax. We also discussed the methods and habit of mindfulness, as well as how we can apply this concept in our daily lives to help us stay present and connected with ourselves, people around us and our environment.
In the evening, a couple of regular basketball players enjoyed the opportunity of the Thrive Week to invite the rest of the office for a casual & fun indoor session. Gathering 10 team members as well as 2 of their friends & family, the group had a 2-hour sweat, stretching up their bodies & practicing their team spirit on the court. The event received great feedbacks & couple of the 1st time joiners expressed wishes to join the regular sessions.
Friday was an action packed day, with a 7am yoga session; this was followed by a lunch organized by the Fortune Cats and as it’s December the office got together to create Christmas decorations and the ceremonial tree lighting; this was a Corporate Social Responsibility event where twenty students from the Shanghai Deaf Technical School came to our RMCC offices and helped not only create Christmas decorations but also took part in a tree decorating competition where much fun was had by all, before we officially lit the main Christmas tree welcoming in the festive season.
All in all, this was another great week, where team members Thrived in Body, Mind and Spirit. Stay tuned for our next Thrive week in the 2018.
We are evolving the way we work. We don’t just want you to work at Hilton; we want you to Thrive at Hilton.
