[5月团队成员故事]数学系毕业的收益经理，有什么独特的收益管理技巧？——Jason Zhu’s Story

Team members of RMCC Asia Pacific come from different industries and backgrounds. For our center, your ability to learn and to work always weight more than what you studied in universities. Apart from most of the team members who majored in hotel management, last month we introduced Jason Lee, a cluster revenue manager who studied mechanical engineering at university. Today, let us take you to RMCC’s other Jason who majored in mathematics. Let’s see if he has any unique revenue management skills!

问：先跟大家简单介绍一下自己吧。

答：大家好，我是Jason，毕业于美国马里兰大学，并拿到了数学和信息系统管理双学位。毕业之后我进入了万豪收益策略部门工作。一年后，我有幸加入RMCC并担任收益分析员的职位，并在去年四月晋升为区域收益经理。目前，我管理着包括中国区和东南亚的六家酒店，他们分别是常州新城希尔顿酒店，华欣希尔顿温泉度假酒店，新加坡实笼岗希尔顿花园酒店，曼德勒希尔顿酒店，卡帕里希尔顿温泉度假酒店和内比都希尔顿酒店。

问：为什么当时会选择加入RMCC呢？

答：入行不久我就听经常听到RMCC的名字，对我来说RMCC就是行业的标杆。我怀着好奇心在希尔顿官网上搜索并得知RMCC的全球办公室有行业最顶尖的人才为截然不同的市场提供无与伦比的收益管理解决方案。Cindy是第一个联系我的希尔顿HR。有一天我接到了她的电话，电话中她很热情并专业地描述了RMCC的未来的愿景和机会，让我对RMCC充满了期待。在最终面试中Clay和Antoine让我感受到加入RMCC是一个非常正确的选择。在加入RMCC之后，我发现RMCC不但能持续在激烈的竞争中提升市场份额，而且有着无与伦比的公司文化和工作环境。我想借这个机会感谢Cindy，Clay和Antoine给了我加入RMCC的机会。

问：就像你说的，你在大学期间学习的是数学专业，你觉得数学与收益管理这两者之间有什么联系么？或者说你的专业知识对你现在的收益经理的工作有什么帮助呢？

答：数学和收益管理最大的相似之处是你都要和数字打交道。对我来说，首先我看到大量的数据的时候可以很快地看到重点。其次，大学教育培养了我的逻辑思维能力和解决问题的能力从而让我现在有能力迅速、准确地分析数据并给出解决方案。我很喜欢乔布斯在斯坦福毕业典礼上说的一段话，他在大学和工作之初做的几件看上去毫无关联的事最终串联起来让Mac有了赏心悦目的字体设计。“你在向前展望的时候不可能将这些片断串连起来；你只能在回顾的时候将点点滴滴串连起来。所以你必须相信这些片断会在你未来的某一天串连起来并让生命与众不同。”

问：嗯。这句话确实很经典。对了，听说你平时很喜欢去开房…不，是去享受希尔顿的员工福利Go Hilton团队成员旅行计划。你有什么酒店想跟大家推荐的么？

答：说到酒店推荐，大阪康莱德酒店是我的首选。在每个房间，餐厅或者大堂里都能欣赏到大阪美丽的夜景。在现代化设计房间里，所有设施都非常智能，可以在触摸板上调控房间的灯光，窗帘盒温度。我还会推荐比佛利山庄华尔道夫酒店和苏梅岛康莱德酒店，这些酒店都给了我非常难忘的体验。康莱德是我最喜欢的酒店品牌，我喜欢每个康莱德设计的1/3/5小时景点探索体验。这些酒店真正做到了康莱德的口号“灵感的归属，不止于驻足”。

问：除了体验不同的酒店，你平时有什么其它的爱好么？

我热爱团队运动（如足球，篮球，橄榄球等）。因为作为团队的一份子赢得比赛的感觉很美妙。另外一个原因是在团队运动中我能感受到肾上腺素分泌，我喜欢这种身处压力中然后被释放的感觉。感谢希尔顿“茁壮成长”的文化给了我们很多在工作之余参加体育运动的机会。除了运动，我还喜欢打桥牌和炒股。

Q: Please kick off with a brief self-introduction.

A: Hi, this is Jason. I graduated from the University of Maryland with a double degree in Mathematics & Management of Information System (Go Terps!). I joined Hilton RMCC in 2016 as revenue analyst after one year experience with Marriott revenue strategy office and was promoted to cluster revenue manager in Apr 2017. Currently I’m managing 6 hotels across China & Southeast Asia including Hilton Changzhou, Hilton Hua Hin Resort & Spa, Hilton Garden Inn Singapore, Hilton Mandalay, Hilton Ngapali Resort & Spa and Hilton Nay Pyi Taw.

Q: Why did you choose RMCC/Hilton?

A: Since I stepped into this industry, I heard of RMCC and its excellent reputation. I was curious so I went through Hilton.com to learn more, and found that the global offices provide unparalleled revenue management services and solutions to consistently grow market share and outperform competitors around the world with top talents and tools. Cindy,  the recruiter who brought me to the RMCC, one day came across my profile and gave me a call. She passionately talked about the vision and great opportunities within the center. During the final interview, Clay and Antoine made me feel that it was the right decision to join RMCC. After I joined the Center, I found that this office not only keep delivering fantastic results, but also has an incredible culture and work environment. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Cindy, Clay and Antoine for the opportunity to join the center.

Q: As you said, you studied math in university, do you find a connection between this and revenue management or how your knowledge help your current job?

A: Majoring in mathematics allows me to go through spread sheets with large quantity data and easily get the right insights. Moreover, my education background gives me strong critical thinking and problem solving skills which enable me analyze the data accurately and provide solutions. One of my favorite quotes is what Steve Jobs said during his Stanford commencement speech. He did several things which seems not related at all but eventually link them together and these helped him to build the Mac’s original fonts. “You can't connect the dots looking forward; you can only connect them looking backwards. So you have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future.”

Q: That’s a classic one. I also heard that you enjoyed the Go Hilton program a lot. Would you recommend any specific property?

A: Speaking of hotel recommendation, the “address in the sky” - Conrad Osaka is my favorite hotel. It offers incredible views of the Tosabori river and the city from all guest rooms and public areas. In their luxury designed room, you can control lighting, curtain and temperature preference with the digital panel. Waldorf Astoria Beverly Hills and Conrad Koh Samui are also stunning hotels giving me unforgettable experience which I would recommend to anyone. Conrad is my favorite brand because of its 1/3/5 hour exploration program.  They truly deliver their commitment of “Never Just Stay. Stay Inspired.”

Q: What’s your hobby in your spare time apart from experiencing different hotels?

A: I love playing and watching team sports (soccer, basketball, football…) because it’s a lot of fun with the teamwork and it feels great to win as part of the team. Feeling my adrenaline release by playing sports is also one of the reasons. I enjoy the feeling of being under pressure and stress and then releasing it. Thanks to our Thrive culture, I get a lot of opportunities to play with my colleagues after work. Apart from that, I’m also interested in playing bridge and investing stocks.
