[9月团队成员故事]带着目的去旅行的收益经理，应该就是她了——Diane’s story

中国新年的时候去了南非，4月去了澳大利亚，两天前刚刚从格鲁吉亚和亚美尼亚回来……4 个国家，13个城市——这仅仅是她在2018年过去的9个多月里的旅行记录。“旅行”这件事情对她来说从来不仅仅是“游玩”，“度假”或者“购物”这么简单，认识新的朋友，深入了解当地的文化和习俗，体验不一样的人生才是她旅行的目的。

今天，就让我们一起走近RMCC的“段小侠”（这是她爸爸在自己的微信公众号文章里对她的称呼），听她与我们分享她与收益管理，与舞蹈，与旅行的故事。

She was in South Africa during the Chinese New Year period, then she went to Australia in April. Two days ago she just came back from Georgia. 4 countries and 13 cities - It’s merely her travel log in the past 9 months. “Travel” was never about “leisure”, “vacation” or “shopping”. To make acquaintances to new friends, to understand the different cultures and customs and get the unique life experiences… that’s her interpretation of “Travel with Purpose”.

大家好，我是Diane。我本科在美国丹佛大学学习酒店管理和市场。在此期间，我作为交换生去巴黎学习了一个学期。

作为一名收益经理，我的职业发展道路并不典型。我有酒店行业不同部门的经验。我曾在芝加哥威斯汀密歇根大道酒店的客房部工作，之后去到丹佛市中心喜来登酒店的前台工作，再后来回国加入上海君悦酒店的管培生计划，几乎在所有部门轮岗了一遍，甚至包括工程部和安保部。之后我暂别酒店行业，加入了美国运通在中国的首个旅行和生活方式团队。在加入RMCC前最近的一份工作是在豪威盛酒店管理咨询公司（HVS）做了一年的酒店咨询和会议管理。

Hi everyone, I'm Diane. I studied Hospitality Management and Marketing at University of Denver, United States. During that time I also studied abroad in Paris for one semester.

My career path is not typical for a revenue manager. I had experiences in different aspects of the hospitality industry. Before I joined RMCC, I worked at housekeeping of Westin Michigan Avenue in Chicago, front office of Sheraton Denver Downtown, joined the corporate leadership trainee program at Grand Hyatt Shanghai (there I worked at all department even including engineering and security), then out of properties and joined American Express’s first Travel & Lifestyle team in China. Later I joined HVS (an international hospitality consulting company) and did hotel consulting and conference management for one year.

我是17年2月加入RMCC的。目前我管理着3家大中华地区的酒店：分别是广州汇华希尔顿逸林酒店，厦门海沧正元希尔顿逸林酒店和林芝工布庄园希尔顿酒店。

I joined RMCC in Feb 2017 and I currently manage 3 hotels in Greater China & Mongolia region. They're DoubleTree by Hilton Guangzhou Science City, DoubleTree by Hilton Xiamen Haicang and Hilton Linzhi Resort.

我在大学的时候就对收益管理非常感兴趣。在加入RMCC前，我已经认识了一些在这里工作的朋友们，他们都对RMCC赞不绝口，所以我当时非常期待能有机会来这里工作。

I was quite interested in revenue management when I was in college. Prior to joining RMCC, I have already known a few friends from RMCC I heard a lot of good things from them. Therefore, I was very looking forward to have the chance to come to work.

我喜欢学习不同的语言。 在西班牙语之前，我还学习了法语。我还会一点日语和韩语。 从美国回来的第三天，我参加了在Meetup.com上的一个萨尔萨舞(Salsa，一种拉丁风格的舞蹈，其热情奔放的舞风不逊于伦巴、恰恰）聚会。 在那时，我爱上了萨尔萨舞，巴恰塔，和所有西班牙歌曲。 在我之前的两份工作之间的一段时间里，我在墨西哥参加了为期两周的西班牙语课程，我预订了提早一周去墨西哥的航班，在没有任何提前准备的情况下一个人在墨西哥呆了4周，古巴呆了2周。 凭借我的法语知识和语言环境，我很快学会了西班牙语，同时也爱上了拉美文化。 回国后，我参加了一些在线的课程，最近也在西班牙的全球塞万提斯学院学习。 现在，我可以流利地与西班牙母语人士交流简单的主题，我也能够看懂一些电视剧（如果人物对话的语速不太快），听懂西班牙歌曲和看懂一些文章。

I love learning different languages. Prior to Spanish, I also learned French, and a little bit of Japanese and Korean. The 3rd day when I was back from US, I went to a salsa (a Latin style dance) meet up organized by a group on Meetup.com. That was the moment I fell in love with salsa, bachata, and all the Spanish songs. During a gab time between my two previous jobs, I signed up for 2-week Spanish classes in Mexico, booked the flight one week in advance and travelled to Mexico and Cuba for total 6 weeks by myself without any preparation. With my French knowledge and the language environment, I learned Spanish quickly. I fell in love with the culture of Latin America as well. After I came back, I took some online classes and recently at Cervantes, a worldwide Spanish institute. Now I can communicate with native speakers fluently on easy topics and understand some TV series (if they don’t speak too fast), songs and articles in Spanish.

在旅行期间，我有很多难忘的经历，其中最难忘的是前面提到过的在古巴的独自旅行。

当我在其他城市待了一周以后，我回到了哈瓦那，正好当天是古巴民族独立英雄和诗人何塞·马蒂诞辰162周年。成千上万的古巴人走上街头纪念这一意义非凡的时刻。我之前并不知道这是一个纪念日活动，但是当我回到哈瓦那的旅馆店主向我解释了这一切之后，我立即和两名智利女孩加入了人群。我们一起走到海边，全程被鼓舞人心的氛围所震撼。大家都洋溢着喜悦之情。走路的时候，学生手里拿着火把和国旗，边唱边跳，大喊着“古巴万岁”。 当时我恍惚觉得自己行走在电影的场景里，真的很庆幸自己能有机会参加这种特别的活动。

I had many unforgettable experiences during travel. One of the most unforgettable experience happened during my solo trip to Cuba.

The day when I went back to Havana, after one week in other cities, was Cuban national independence hero and poet, Jose Marti’s 162 birthday.  On this day, thousands of Cubans, youth, solders, and students gathered at the university and walked all the way down to the Malecon (seaside way), to celebrate for his birthday. I didn’t know this event in advance, but the moment I got back to the hostel in Havana, the host told us about it and I went and joined the crowd immediately with two Chilean girls from the hostel. Walking down to the seaside with the crowd, we were so amazed and touched by the exciting and inspiring atmosphere. Everyone was super happy. While walking, the students were holding torches and national flags in their hand, singing, dancing and saying “Viva Cuba” all the way. At that time, I felt that I was walking in the scene of a movie. I felt very lucky that I had the opportunity to participate in this special event.

当然是希尔顿林芝度假酒店！并不是因为我是这家酒店的收益经理才推荐它的，哈哈。我曾经去那里进行过酒店访问，它比我想象当中漂亮多了！酒店靠近机场，面朝是雅鲁藏布江，背靠起伏的山峦。酒店装修得富丽堂皇，你可以四处走走，也可以前往黄玫瑰花园一探究竟。酒店的建筑风格是传统的藏式风格，与布达拉宫类似。客房十分宽敞，每间客房均设有可欣赏美景的阳台。我是在十一月份去的，天气很好，阳光充足。因为是林芝旅游的淡季，所以游客很少，物价相对便宜，你几乎每天都能看到着名的南迦巴瓦峰（人们通常说，如果你能看到它，你很幸运，因为那里总是云雾缭绕）。山上的树木也变成了不同的颜色，红色，黄色......到了晚上，你可以看到天空中的所有星星。 你也可以在3月下旬到4月上旬期间访问林芝，因为这是很好的观赏桃花的时节。

Hilton Linzhi Resort of course! And not because of I'm the cluster revenue manager of this hotel. I went there for boarding visit… and it was even more beautiful than I expected! The hotel is close to airport, with Yarlung Tsangpo River River in the front and mountain in the back. The hotel itself is in a mansion, you can walk around and to the Yellow Roses garden. The architecture of the hotel is traditional Tibetan style, a little bit similar to Potala(Budala) Palace.  The rooms are spacious, and every room has a balcony with a great view. I went during November, it was low season for Linzhi however the weather is nice and sunny all the time,  everything is cheaper, there are less tourists, and you can see the famous Namjag Barwa Peak almost every day (People usually says if you can see it, you are very lucky, as it’s always hidden in the clouds).  The trees on the mountains turned into different colors as well, red, yellow… And in the evening, you can see all the stars in the sky. Late march and early April is a good time to go as well, as it is the peach blossom season.

由我发起的两周一次的法语角活动，以帮助对法语感兴趣的朋友（还有我自己）练习这门语言。我是从大概5年前开始发起的这个小组，现在已经有1000人了！欢迎同样对法语学习有兴趣的朋友加入我们！我喜欢红酒，在大学期间，我上了两学期的红酒课，并且在纳帕谷和开普敦进行了几次很棒的红酒观光。我有侍酒师大师协会颁发的入门证书，所以如果你需要推荐红酒可以来问我哈！

I organize a French meet up every two weeks to help people (and myself) to practice French and speak French. I started the group 5 years ago now there are over 1000 members!  Also, I love wine. I took two semesters wine classes in colleagues, had some nice wine tours in Napa Valley and Cape Town.  I also have an introductory certificate from Court of Masters Sommeliers. So let me know if you need any wine recommendations!
