近日关于12寸MacAir的流言四起，传言12寸MacBook Air设计已经接近尾声。这款代号为MacBook Stealth的新款MacBook Air可能成为有史以来最薄款，而苹果公司也为此绞尽脑汁不得不将所有接口都移除，除了一个C Type USB接口。此外新款12寸MacBook将取代11寸Air，配有视网膜屏幕，Intel 14nm Core M 低压处理器，无风扇设计等。
Last week a rumor started making the rounds that Apple is finalizing the design of a 12-inch MacBook Air. Codenamed MacBook Stealth, it is expected to be the slimmest MacBook ever released, but Apple has had to make a few hard choices in order to achieve that, including removing everything except a USB Type C port from the casing.
If that sounds like too much of acompromise to you, don’t expect the 11-inch MacBook Air to still be around as an alternative. According to DigiTimes, the 12-inch model will replace the previous 11-inch Air rather than featuring along side it going forward. That actually makes sense when you consider Apple is thought to have made the 12-inch model about the same size as the current 11-inch Air. They wouldn’t sit well next to each other in the Apple Store.
If a 12-inch MacBook Air sounds fantastic,then you’ll like DigiTimes other claim: it will arrive in the first quarter of this year, meaning before the end of March. It is being manufactured by Quanta Computer, which also happens to be in charge of Apple Watch production right now.
If the 11-inch Air’s days are truly numbered then it’s safe to assume that the price of the 12-inch model will remain close to the price point of the smaller laptop it replaces. Apple is expected to keep the 13-inch model in production, but surely Cupertino’s hardware designers will do something to differentiate it more from the 12-inch? That could also be another model whose days are numbered, though, depending on just how popular the 12-inch Air turns out to be.
