活动简介

近年来,中澳两国的研究人员在材料、物理、化学、生物等研究领域始终保持着密切、广泛的合作。双方密切的国际合作已经取得了大量的重要研究成果,积极的促进了相关科学领域的发展。


中澳量子科学与先进材料系列讲座是由中澳学者联合会发起,北航-伍伦贡联合研究中心与邃瞳科学云承办的前沿学术交流,旨在促进中国与澳大利亚的量子科学与先进材料以及相关领域的学术交流合作,并以此次系列讲座作为一个契机给国内外的研究学者提供展示交流的平台。系列讲座将邀请多名中澳知名学者、研究人员分享最新的研究成果,传播科学知识,探讨领域研究方向。

In recent years, Chinese and Australian researchers have maintained close and extensive cooperation in the fields of material science, physics, chemistry, biology and the others. The close international cooperation between the two sides has yielded a large number of important research results and actively promoted the development of relevant scientific fields.

 

China-Australia Quantum Science and Advanced Materials Series of Lectures are sponsored by China-Australia Scholars Federation and held by Sui Tong Science Cloud.  This cutting-edge academic communication aims at promoting academic exchanges and cooperation between China and Australia in quantum science, advanced materials and other related fields.


These series of lectures, as an great opportunity, will provide a platform for further communication between domestic and foreign researchers. we will invite many renowned Chinese and Australian scholars and researchers to share the latest research results, disseminate scientific knowledge and discuss the research direction.

讲座嘉宾

薛其坤,中国科学院院士,国际著名实验物理学家。1984年毕业于山东大学光学系激光专业,1994年获中国科学院物理研究所博士学位。2005年当选为中国科学院院士。2013年至2020年任清华大学副校长。现任南方科技大学校长,北京量子信息科学研究院院长,中国物理学会副理事长。主要研究方向为扫描隧道显微学、分子束外延、拓扑绝缘量子态和高温超导电性等。曾获国家自然科学一等奖、国家自然科学二等奖、第三世界科学院物理奖、陈嘉庚科学奖、万人计划杰出人才、求是杰出科学家奖、何梁何利科学与技术成就奖、未来科学大奖-物质科学奖、(首届)全国创新争先奖章、菲列兹·伦敦纪念奖、北京市突出贡献中关村奖和复旦-中植科学奖等奖励与荣誉。

Dr. Qikun Xue is a member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. He received his BSc degree from Shandong University in 1984, and PhD in condensed matter physics from Institute of Physics, the Chinese Academy of Sciences in 1994. He was elected into the Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2005. He was the Vice President for Research of Tsinghua University from 2013 to 2020 and became the third President of Southern University of Science and Technology in 2020. He is also Director of Beijing Academy of Quantum Information Sciences and Vice Chairman of Chinese Physical Society. Dr. Xue is a world renowned experimental physicist and his research interests include scanning tunneling microcopy/spectroscopy, molecular beam epitaxy, low-dimensional and interface-related superconductivity, topological insulators, and quantum size effects in various low-dimensional structures. He won the TWAS Prize in Physics in 2010, the Future Science Prize for Physical Sciences in 2016, State Natural Science Award (the First Prize) in 2018, The Fritz London Memorial Prize in 2020, Outstanding Contribution Zhongguancun Award, Beijing Science and Technology Award in 2020, Fudan-Zhongzhi Science Award in 2020.

通过回顾过去数十年间几个具有代表性的例子,深入剖析材料和科学发现之间的密切关系。专注材料的研究有时会孕育重要的科学发现。同时,针对重要科学目标的研究常常又会推动材料的发展。二者相互促进,相辅相成。

In this lecture, we will briefly review several representative cases that serve to reveal the close connections between the study of materials and scientific discoveries. The observation reflects a conclusion – the study of materials is often a process of scientific discoveries, which itself will sometimes promote the advancement of materials and thus together move the both forward.
