Guanghui Qidong Terminal to Complete Phase I Construction in Q4, 2018

According to Guanghui Energy, its Qidong LNG receiving terminal in East China’s Nantong Port will complete the Phase I construction by the end of 2018, and the receiving capacity of the terminal will reach 3 Mtpa with all facilities in full functioning.
The Phase I facilities include one 100,000 cbm berth, two 50,000 cbm storage tank, one 160,000 cbm storage tank and matched facilities. Except for the 160,000 cbm tank, all the facilities had been put into operation since June 4, 2017, and the terminal successfully passed the test running and received 12 LNG carriers or 450,000 tons of LNG in by the end of 2017. The actual turnover rate in 2017 was over-expected and exceeded 7.7 eventually.
The new 160,000 cbm storage tank, with a designed turnover capacity at 1.15 Mtpa and a 0.6 billion CNY investment, has finished the ceiling sealing, and the main tank and matched pipelines and facilities will be put into operation in Q4, 2018. Then, the receiving capacity of the terminal will reach its designed target at 3 Mtpa.
Moreover, in the Phase II planning, the terminal will add two 160,000 cbm storage tanks, the second berth and an extra transship berth. The construction is expected to finish by 2021, and the designed receiving capacity will reach 6 Mtpa by then. The planned Phase III construction includes two 200,000 cbm storage tanks, and the final receiving capacity will reach 10 Mtpa by 2023 as heard from Guanghui Energy.
Guanghui Energy pays great attention to the matched natural gas pipeline construction as well as the long-term contract seeking. Currently, all imported resources at the terminal are delivered via road trucks, but the construction of the Qi-Tong Natural Gas Pipeline is also accelerated. The pipeline will be divided into three parts: to supply CHD(China Huadian Corp.)’s nearby gas power plants via two special lines, to supply the Tongzhou Bay via Zhongdun Energy’s pipeline, and to connect CNPC’s West-to-East I Trunk Line. According to SCI’s gas specialist Guangbin, Liu, with the support from all those infrastructures, the designed 10 Mtpa will be capable to run at full functioning, and the Qidong Terminal will become the top LNG receiving terminals not only in private-sector but also rubbing shoulder with China’s gas and energy giants in the future.
