China MTBE Apparent Consumption to Increase in March

In February, China’s MTBE output was about 868.8kt, and the apparent consumption volume reached 865.9kt. In March, China’s MTBE output reached 1,030kt or so. SCI predicts that the apparent consumption volume of MTBE in March will be about 1,040kt, up 20% M-O-M.

According to China Customs, there was one order in the MTBE import market with the volume of 2kt, and those MTBE resources were imported from Thailand via Huangpu Customs. Besides, there was one order in the MTBE export market with the volume of 4.9kt, and those MTBE resources were exported to Taiwan Province via Qingdao Customs and the trade mode of processing trade with imported materials. 

As for the MTBE supply, the average MTBE operating rate at independent refineries was about 55.74%, up 2.60% M-O-M, and the MTBE output obviously grew. According to SCI’s statistics, the total MTBE output at independent refineries in March was about 733.4kt, up 28.37% M-O-M. Moreover, China’s total MTBE output in March reached 1,030kt or so. SCI predicts that the apparent consumption volume of MTBE in March will be about 1,040kt, up 20% M-O-M.
