China SBS Operating Rate Inched up Under Sino-U.S. Trade War

In July 2018, operating rates at SBS plants increased to 63.41%, up 0.60% M-O-M but down 0.22% Y-O-Y. Therein, operating rates at Sinopec Baling Company, Sinopec Beijing Yanshan Company and Huizhou LCY Elastomers declined. Operating rates at PetroChina Dushanzi Petrochemical, LND, Ningbo Changhong Polymer Scientific and Technical and Tianjin LG Botian Chemical increased. Meanwhile, operating rates at Sinopec Maoming Company and Shandong Yuhuang Chemical were stable. Besides, there was no SBS production at Ningbo Jinhai Chenguang Chemical and Shandong Jusheng Technology.

SBS output

In August 2018, China’s SBS output was 64.7kt, up 12.72% M-O-M and 5.03% Y-O-Y, which mostly resulted from the increase in SBS output at Sinopec Baling Company, Huizhou LCY Elastomers and PetroChina Dushanzi Petrochemical. But SBS output at Ningbo Changhong Polymer Scientific and Technical and Shandong Yuhuang Chemical inched down. And SBS output at other producers changed slightly. On the whole, SBS output increased in August 2018.
