H1, 2018 Butyl Rubber Market Analysis

Market performance

Regular butyl rubber: In H1, 2018, the butyl rubber market price was on the increase as a whole. Taking Russian 1675N as an example, the price reached to RMB 19,200/mt in June, up 26.3% from RMB 15,200/mt at the beginning of 2018. The price hikes were mainly attributed to the increase in cost and the insufficient supply of butyl rubber in China.

Halobutyl rubber: From January to March, the halobutyl rubber 232 price fluctuated upwards, rising from RMB 18,000/mt to RMB 19,200/mt. From April to May, the price of halobutyl rubber 232 spiked to RMB 24,000/mt, due to the preliminary ruling of the anti-dumping investigation. In early June, the halobtuyl rubber price stayed at highs, in view of the limited supply. In mid-June, the price fell back a little, because of the weak downstream demand.
