October Operating Rates of EPDM Units Declined M-O-M

Highlights:

Recently, the supply of EPDM in China was passable, but there were also EPDM grades under short supply. As for Chinese-made EPDM, the supply was limited at PetroChina Jilin Petrochemical and Sinopec Mitsui Elastomers. That at Ningbo SK and ARLANXEO was passable. How about the EPDM unit status and the output of EPDM in October?

In October, EPDM units at Ningbo SK and ARLANXEO ran normally; both A line and C line at PetroChina Jilin Petrochemical switched to produce other grades; EPDM units at Sinopec Mitsui Elastomers were shut down for maintenance in early October. On the whole, operating rates of EPDM units decreased notably M-O-M.

Currently, EPDM units at Sinopec Mitsui Elastomers are shut down for maintenance and may be restarted in H2 November. EPDM units at other producers in China are mostly in normal operation in Q4 of 2018. PetroChina Jilin Petrochemical holds a low inventory, and resources available for sales are limited at Sinopec Mitsui Elastomers. Therefore, the supply of Chinese-made EPDM will be limited.
