Impact of Typhoon on PP Market

Typhoon led to an increase in demand for plastic weaving products.

At last weekend, the typhoon “Lekima” landed in Zhejiang and landed on the coast of Qingdao, Shandong on August 11. The typhoon brought strong winds and heavy rainfall, which caused serious damage to infrastructure, housing, public buildings and grain fields.

The PP capacity at Shandong Shouguang Luqing Petrochemical and Dongfang Hongye Chemical in Weifang was large. According to SCI, affected by the typhoon and the strong rainfall, the PP unit at Shandong Shouguang Luqing Petrochemical was shut down, and Dongfang Hongye Chemical cut the operating rate of the PP unit.

After the typhoon, the demand for plastic products increased in the relief of flood disasters. At the same time, the Shandong Shouguang vegetable base suffered a heavy blow. Due to the heavy rain caused by the typhoon, the vegetable greenhouses flooded or even collapsed. The reconstruction will increase the demand for shed film.
