Mar PP Unit Maintenance Forecast
The output loss caused by the maintenance was around 346kt in February, up 195.64% M-O-M. The first line at Zhejiang Petrochemical was newly added, and the running data of first line at Hengli Petrochemical was included in the calculation. After the Spring Festival holiday, PP producers resumed production slowly, and most of them ran units at low operating rates. Meanwhile, there were many units undergoing maintenance. Thus, the affected output due to maintenance increased a lot.
Meanwhile, there were 17 PP production lines undergoing maintenance. Most of these lines underwent maintenance as planned, while a few of them were shut down temporarily. Therefore, the output loss caused by the maintenance rose in February.
PetroChina Guangxi Petrochemical, Ningbo Fund Energy and Zhejiang Petrochemical second line will resume production in March. Oriental Energy (Zhangjiagang) New Material and Dalian Organic Chemical will arrange maintenance in March. It will still be hard to enhance operating rates of some units in early March, but the overall operating rate of PP units will inch up in March. SCI reckons that the affected PP output by maintenance will decrease in March.
SCI predicts that the PP output loss caused by the maintenance will be around 146.1kt in March, down 57.76% M-O-M. And the PP output will be 2,161.2kt in March, which will rise obviously than before. It is because that most of the previously-stopped units have resumed production in February, and there will be limited newly added turnaround plans in March.
Even if downstream enterprises restart units steadily and enhance operating loads, the PP output also rises obviously, so PP producers will suffer high supply pressure in March.
