Hubei Provincial Grid to Join PipeChina as Third in China
Hubei Energy Group, the operator of Hubei Province’s natural gas pipeline grid, announced on Oct 28 to split the business of the provincial grid company into pipelines and sales. The pipeline business will be merged into PipeChina’s national grid, while the sales business will be handed to Sinopec to make up Sinopec’s stakes in this provincial grid company.
Hubei Natural Gas Dev. Company Limited, the provincial natural gas grid company of Hubei, was established back in 2009 by Hubei Energy Group and Sinopec Natural Gas by 51% and 49% stakes. The company owns four city gas companies and seven natural gas pipelines with over 15 output hubs from the main grid and a total 4 MPa pipeline length up to 664 kilometers.
