WEP Sends 10 bcm Gas to the East in 60 Days
China’s first and foremost long-distance pipeline system, PipeChina West-to-East pipeline system (WEP) including WEP I, II and III, has sent over 10 bcm natural gas since the beginning of this winter supply season which started on October 10 inside the WEP schedule.
As one of the most important arteries of China’s natural gas sector, the WEP system was designed to deliver natural gas imported from Central Asian countries and produced from western China to eastern China across 15 provinces and municipalities from the northwest of China to Beijing, Shanghai and Guangdong. From its initiative in 2007, WEP has delivered over 540 bcm natural gas in 13 years, helping China’s natural gas security and natural gas promotion by a lot. By its three main trunks and over 8,000 kilometers’ sublines, WEP has covered over 2/3 of China’s territory and over 5 billion population.
