2015-2020: Jan-Aug SBR Imports and Exports Comparison
In 2020, China’s SBR import and export had certain changes, and the monthly export volume hit a new record in the past five years. Moreover, from January to August 2020, China’s SBR import and export volume rose Y-O-Y.
From January to August of 2015 to 2020, China’s SBR import volume was basically over 250kt. Therein, the import volume from January to August of 2017 was the largest at about 281.6kt, and that of 2019 was the lowest at 249.8kt which was the only one lower than 250kt.
From January to August 2020, China’s SBR import volume was 263.3kt, up 5.41% Y-O-Y, mainly as in H1 of 2020, the USD offers of SBR from South Korea and other origins were lower than prices of Chinese-made SBR resources influenced by the public health emergency. With the arbitrage window opened, players were active in operation, so China’s SBR import volume rose Y-O-Y.
